The purpose of this page and the ones it links to is to provide a detailed description of cave inventory items which LAG members are likely to encounter in their common caving area, the Guadalupe Mountains. The basis of this inventory list is the Carlsbad Cavern National Park Cave Inventory Form which is used by most land managers in the Guads and is a useful collection of common inventory items for the Guads anyway.

If you are a caver who works in the Guads, you may find this inventory page and its detailed descriptions to be of use to you, especially if you are asked to perform and inventory for a government agency. If you would like to help to develop or improve on this inventory, you must be granted access to the Wiki. To do this, send an email to William Tucker or the LAG webmaster and ask for an account.

This inventory is not intended to be a comprehensive cave inventory for any cave in the world. It is specifically intended for cave inventory in the Guadalupe Mountain caves. And even more specifically, it is designed to aid cavers in filling out the Carlsbad Cavern National Park Cave Inventory Form. Detailed descriptions and photographs should be representative of what is likely to be encountered in the Guads. Links are provided for each entry on the form with a page for detailed explanations and photographs of that particular entry.

If you are a novice at cave inventory, you may wish to read the Introduction to cave inventory.
