The purpose of this project is to provide a detailed description of cave inventory items which Guadalupe Mountain cavers are likely to encounter. The basis of this inventory list is the Carlsbad Cavern National Park Cave Inventory Form which is used by most land managers in the Guads and is a useful collection of common inventory items for the Guads anyway.

If you are a caver who works in the Guads, you may find this inventory and its detailed descriptions to be of use to you, especially if you are asked to perform an inventory for a government agency. If you would like to help develop or improve on this inventory, you must be granted access to the Wiki. To do this, send an email to William Tucker (william.tucker@att.net) and ask for an account.

This inventory is not intended to be a comprehensive cave inventory for any cave in the world. It is specifically intended for cave inventory in the Guadalupe Mountain caves. And even more specifically, it is designed to aid cavers in filling out the Carlsbad Cavern National Park Cave Inventory Form. Detailed descriptions and photographs should be representative of what is likely to be encountered in the Guads. Articles are provided for each entry on the form with detailed explanations and photographs of that particular entry. To find out what needs to be done, see the cave inventory category. When browsing, missing articles are indicated by a red link; but even blue links may need work.

Please be certain that you have the rights to all text and photographs that you include here. Do not copy other peoples' creative works. Also, out of concern for the caves, cave names are not included - there is no reason to identify the location of a photograph, just the type of resource shown. Caves and their contents are protected under the Federal Cave Resources Protection Act.

If you are a novice at cave inventory, you may wish to read the introduction to cave inventory.

The goal of the project is to produce a book which can be printed for use in places like the research huts at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and can be loaded onto portable devices like a phone, laptop, etc. for use in-cave.
